Amberly's Ears-Finally A Solution-Good Ole Ear Tubes

In the second week of March, Amberly had yet again another nasty double ear infection. The doctor said it was time to look into tubes. She had to have a shot for antiobiotics since we had exhausted all the oral ones. It is a course of 3 shots for 3 days. On the 2nd day, she had a skin reaction to the antibiotics, so we had to stop those antibiotics and then we moved onto Zithromax-an evens stronger antiobiotic.

This was Friday, the following Tuesday, March 17, we had an appointment with the ENT to talk about tubes. We were able to schedule surgery for the following day. I was nervous about putting my baby under even if it is only for 15 minutes. But after talking to the doctors and several friends and family, I felt pretty confident that this would be fairly easy.

Amberly had her surgery on Wednesday, March 18 and it all went very smoothly. You could hardly tell she had holes drilled in her ear drums, she just bounced right back to my sweet easy girl.

We can tell that she can hear better, though, because she reacted to all the noise of our crazy house now.

The other thing that has happened is that she is now moving! Before her surgery, she would barely roll over and now she is scooching on the floor and into every thing. She doesn't really crawl, but she will scooch and roll and then sit up, scooch and roll and then sit up. It works for her. I don't know if she will crawl.

She is still a very sweet and happy little girl and fun. So easy and agreeable. Good thing with four big brothers who all maul her constantly!
