Robert got an A++ for Mother's Day this year. Friday morning, Christopher, Matthew and I attended Jenn Jewkes' funeral while Robert stayed home with the younger children. After the funeral, we both ran errands like crazy. He brought home chocolate covered strawberries and that in and of itself blew me away.
That evening, we had an awards dinner to attend hosted by Robert's employer, L3 Communications. I quickly grabbed a couple of outfits at TJ Max's for the occasion and he only grunted a little. We had a nice evening. The food was great-prime rib and salmon amongst other things.
Robert was even brave enough to shimmy on the dance floor with me for a few numbers. I finally figured out what it is with him and dancing. All these years I thought he didn't have any rhythm. I think the real problem is that he is so nervous that he becomes absolutely stiff out on the dance floor. We really ought to sign up for some dance classes and refine our skills. I really do love to dance and wish I could get Robert to enjoy it!
On Sunday morning, he made me French toast and also barbecued steaks that afternoon. He got me a wireless mouse for my laptop (can I just say- heaven sent! Ah!). He also was in charge of the Mother's Day gift for the entire ward (as the Sunday School president). He got 15 boxes of chocolates from See's Candies and carefully chose flavors he thought the women would most like. I think this little task really got him in the spirit of things.
There is only one problem now, I have to actually make some real effort for Father's Day!
The kids all made me sweet little homemade gifts from school, a sunflower from Joshua, a card from Ethan, a handprint craf from Matthew, and a piece of artwork--matted and laminated from Christopher. They all were so sweet and loving.
Ethan is especially my holiday kid. He woke up bright and early and ran in to hug me and wish me Happy Mother's Day and just giggled all through breakfast, wanting to do nice things for me.
I am a pretty lucky gal!
