Last Week Teaching Mom & Me Preschool

The week of May 11 was Joshua's and my last week to have Mom & Me school at our house. The theme was Teddy Bear Picnic. It was a little rough for many reasons such as Robert being out of town again, having three other children home off-track, tired and grouchy mother, and other reasons which will go unnamed.

But it went off fine. We read stories about teddy bears and watched some cute homemade videos on YouTube to the classic tune "Teddy Bear's Picnic." Then we went to the kitchen the prepared our picnic items and put them in a basket and headed outside with all our teddy bears. The kids feasted on Teddy Grahams, PB&J, chips, drinks, and fruit.

We made teddy bear ears out of construction paper so we would be in disguise at the teddy bear picnic. Even all my big boys wanted teddy bear ears which surprised me. The kids swang and slid and ran with their bears and had a wild time.

We also did a bear cave that week, which of course, was a hit. We sang "The Three Little Bears & Goldilocks" song that I grew up singing, another big favorite. We learned how to use basic shapes to draw a teddy bear. We sorted the teddy bears from largest to smallest. Another thing we did was use gummy bears to practice color sorting, counting, group to find the least and the most, and do patterning. So much fun!

It was another bitter sweet moment when we were done. It will be nice not to have to plan for preschool, but it was such a good thing for me to be forced to spend special quality time with Joshua and use my creative side in that way. I have really enjoyed the experience with Josh and this little group of kids. They are an amazingly pleasant little set of children. Good memories to cherish!
