Keep Giving

On Saturday, May 23, Robert wasn't feeling 100%. He had been fight a cold for a week and was pretty worn out. I had wanted to go downtown to the Gateway and do some fun things, see a show, go shopping, etc. Instead, I went to the shoe store with the boys and got them all sandals and me several new pairs of shoes since I haven't bought any new dress shoes or nice sandals in several years.

As we were leaving, a homeless man came up and asked if I had any change. I had let the kids all get a candy at the store and also given a few dollars to a charity thing outside the store, so all the cash I had left was $2. At first, I felt really good about myself for freely handing him my last bit of money, but as I drove away, I realized I had just spent over $100 on shoes (multiple pairs for myself) and this man, who practically had nothing, walked away with a measley $2. I guess the only way to go forward is to just keep giving. I don't know that you can ever make things balance out for everyone.

Yes, keep giving, but I try and keep McDonalds gift cards with me because you never know whether they'll spend the money on drugs or alcohol.
